Smith Family Winter 2012 Bucket List

Well it is late in the season to just be posting our winter bucket list (although it is not technically winter yet…it’s cold enough). But we’ve been living life and it was hard to find time to actually make the bucket list even though we decided what we wanted on it ages ago.

This winter, we decided to cut out paper snowflakes, and post them above our fireplace with our stockings. Then, when we complete an item, we’ll move it to the window to display for the world to see.

Usually when I cut out paper snowflakes they look a bit lame…not realistic. I decided to learn how to actually cut out a real six pointed snowflake (the way they are found in nature). I used this tutorial, and it was very helpful. My snowflakes still don’t look as good as in my imagination…or the person’s who wrote the tutorial…but with practice, I became better and better.

We’ve completed one item on our bucket list so far, and after driving by on the way home from church this morning, I can say it looks really nice up on the window so far.

Curious about what is on our winter 2012 bucket list? Here it is:

– Play in the snow (build snowmen and snow animals)

-Give a secret gift

– Complete a family Jesse Tree

-See the lighted Christmas tree in Pioneer Courthouse Square

-Make and decorate Christmas cookies

-Build a fort indoors

-Dance to holiday tunes

-View lights at Peacock Lane

-Crochet something for the baby

-Bundle up and explore a winter landscape

-Go for a sleigh ride

-Go Christmas caroling

Our bucket list is a bit shorter than usual this season, but with all of our advent activities, I didn’t want to over burden us. We need rest and relaxation as well around the holidays!
