We had a joyous Easter here in the Smith household. Simon woke us up early, so Nathan and I got to spend some time focusing on playing with him. We also hid a few Easter eggs since we were out too late to do that the night before. When Elias woke up, we read him “The Story of the Empty Tomb”. Simon was in the room too so he at least heard it. Then, we took the boys out to see their Easter baskets.
After he looked at everything in his basket, Elias took the stuff out of Simon’s basket and showed it to him.
When the baskets were finished, I told Elias that it was time for an Easter egg hunt. I told him he could go look for all the eggs hidden in the room. His response…..
“No thank you.”
I sat dumbstruck for a minute, and then laughed a bit as I looked at Nathan. We finally convinced Elias to go looking for Easter eggs. He wanted to open each one as he found it, empty it into his basket, and discard the egg. He just hasn’t had an example to follow for proper Easter egg hunt procedure I guess. It was fun for him, though, so that is what matters.
After finding less than half the eggs Elias declared, “I need a water break.” I sighed, then realized how cute it was and resigned myself to the slow pace of our Easter egg hunt.
Simon enjoyed the Easter egg hunt as well:
After all the morning family fun, we went to church and met Grandpa Smith for the service. We are very thankful for St. Bart’s, and had joy filled Easter worship. The music was beautiful. After the hymn before the gospel reading, Elias said in a loud voice, “That was amazing!” That got a few chuckles from the pews in front of us.
Then, we went home for some rest, and regathered at Nana’s house for an Easter dinner. Elias thoroughly enjoyed playing with his cousins. Here they are at the dinner table.
