I’ve been itching to use some of my limited artist skills. I haven’t been doing enough arts and crafts because frankly I’ve just been too tired. Planning for Elias’ art activities has been enough. I had seen a picture of a tree silhouette that someone had painted onto a pumpkin and liked it a lot. I bought some small pumpkins to try it out, but Elias got to them first for one of his art projects. So yesterday, when we walked to the dollar tree for some batteries, and I saw the black poster board, I picked some up figuring I could make a bigger tree silhouette. After we put the boys to bed, Nathan was super tired from his adventures in San Fransisco and zonked out on the couch. I had some time to myself! I got out the poster board, and had at it. I have to say I am very pleased with the results. Now we have our very own Halloween tree!
I drew the tree freehand, and then cut it out. I wanted to place an owl in the tree, but my attempts at drawing an owl were just comical. So I went for bats instead. I have to admit that animals are not my forte, and I could not draw a bat either. I ended up finding a bat online, printing it out, and tracing it onto the poster board.
So there you have it…our Halloween tree! It looks pretty good on our sliding glass door!
