Snow Day #1

When I left my house for play group Thursday morning, there were rumors of snow being on its way. I didn’t know if I believed them. However, the rumors soon proved to be true as the snow started falling fast and furious. On the way home from play group I stopped by my parents’ house to get a sled because I figured we might be able to use it over the next few hours. Simon fell asleep on the way there and we were invited for lunch. Simon slept a bit too long for my comfort….the snow was not letting up. By the time Simon woke, everyone in the entire city was trying to get home from work early so it took me an hour to get home when it normally takes 15 minutes or so.

We got home safely, though, and I got to work dressing the boys for the snow. The whole ordeal probably took three hours…suiting up…playing…declothifying….for a total of 45 minutes of play outside. Ok…that was an exaggeration…but not much of one! It was a winter wonderland in our own backyard. Elias didn’t see any snow last year, and Simon has never seen snow, so it was an exciting time. Here are a few pictures from the boys first snow-play:

Simon was excited to walk around in the stuff. He didn't even seem to mind being bundled into a snow-puff.

The snow didn't stick together so when Elias wanted to build Frosty the snowman, this is what we got. A snow mountain with some arms and a face. But he was excited and proud...and that is what matters.

I rarely get pictures of Elias where he is smiling and looking at the camera. It must have been magic snow.

Elias pulled his brother on the sled for a bit.

Luckily, Nathan made it home from work safely only an hour late or so. What a fun day!
