Now that we are down to the last weekend of winter break, I’ve been reflecting on our time together. I purposefully planned nothing for the break. Our calendar for the entire two weeks had about two things on it. Usually two weeks on the calendar has like forty things on it. What have we done on our winter break? Nothing!
That is…nothing if you think nothing is mostly staying at home and being together. Sleeping in. Playing board games. Reading stories. Taking care of the house and each other.
It has been so nice to be so carefree and to be able to have so much time to spend together. I feel like my mind and soul are decluttered. The relaxation has been rejuvenating for us all. This has given me a lot of perspective as we enter the new year and the new schedule. I’m going to be very choosy about how we spend our time.
No matter what, though, the start of the “winter schedule” will bring big changes from our winter break routine. With school and playgroups and other such activities along with everything I have going on, it will be busy. I am hoping, though, that I’ve managed to make our lives full, but not overfull.
The change in routine will either hit us like a ton of bricks, or we’ll be swept up in the winds of change ready and willing. I’m hoping for the latter.
