Well it’s been forever since I’ve written a blog post. Our lives were crazily upturned by my working in July. This heat combined with pregnancy has left me sapped of energy. And other things have gotten in the way. But life sure has gone on. We’ve been celebrating summer and family and all sorts of fun activities. One of them was a 5 week soccer mini league for 3-5 year olds.
It was pretty fun watching Elias and seeing the difference from last year when he participated in this same league. Last year he cried and did not want to participate. This year he is confident, has fun, and was a leader on his team. I have to say its refreshing to be the parent of the kid who wants to be there, shouts answers to questions to coach asks, and talks to his peers whether he knows them or not. After (what felt like) forever of being the parent of the kid who cries and clings to me all the time. Don’t get me wrong. I love Elias no matter what he is like. I wouldn’t have changed him for anything. It’s just a whole different parenting experience now than it was last year.
Anyway, here are the pictures:
Watching this league is pretty much just entertainment for the parents. The kids don’t have a clue what they are supposed to be doing. When Elias got control of the ball, he pretty much just kept kicking it in a straight line for as long as he could…even off the field or toward the wrong goal. But those things will come later. For now he is having fun and developing confidence.
Elias had a lot of green team spirit. I always heard his little voice the loudest during team cheers. “Green Team!”
Soccer was another fun experience this year. Just think…next year both Simon and Elias will be running around on the field! That seems crazy! Now we are on to five weeks of t-ball….to be coming in another post.
Elias was amazing during VBS this year, too. No tears and seemed interested in everything. It will be such good fun when Simon can join in as well…
