Fountains for a Warm Day

Elias playing in the sand pit

Since yesterday was a warm one, I thought it would be fun to take Elias to the 53rd Ave Park in Hillsboro to play in the fountains. Last summer he couldn’t yet walk, but he loved the fountains. We got to the park and decided to play in the sand pit first. Elias had a lot of fun playing in the sand and watching the other kids. We also got to see lots of planes fly overhead in preparation for the air show.

Elias watching the fountains, and all the kids playing in them.

Next we made the short walk over to the fountain area. I got Elias all dressed in his swimsuit and swim diaper…and he would not go near the fountains. I don’t know if it was too crowded, or he didn’t like the unpredictable-ness of the water (probably a little of both)….but he just wouldn’t go in. He enjoyed sitting in the sun watching the fountains and eating his snack…but that is as far as he would go. It surprised me because he loves swimming at the pool so much. Here’s to hoping he gets over his fear soon!

In this shot I forced Elias to be close to the fountains for a picture....you can see he is uncomfortable.
