Today, Simon is one month old. It’s been a tough month physically…emotionally…logistically…pretty much in every way. But we grow to love Simon more and more every day. We are a family of four now, and the thought of him not being with us…even though it was just a month ago…seems so foreign. He’s made a huge imprint on our hearts.
Things are a lot different with a second child. Having an infant is still bone-tiring, all-consuming, and thrilling all wrapped up in one tiny package. But we just can’t pay the same attention to him as we did with the first child…because there is now a 2 year old running around demanding our attention as well. I already wonder how much I’m missing!
Simon likes to be held (what baby doesn’t!) or to lay in the kick and crawl. He has done some cooing but not a whole bunch. He likes to be bounced, and for some reason…likes to have his head at a weird angle…he actually falls asleep faster with his head tilted back a bit. Simon has smiled a few times, and is beginning to develop strong neck muscles.
Elias is doing well too. He is still in the process of adjusting to having a brother, but things are going well! Today, he actually kissed Simon on the head twice! It really made my day!
Here are some pictures of Simon’s day today:
