On Friday, I started out the day quite bummed because Elias’ preschool was canceled and I did not know how I was going to get to the store for some last minute supplies I needed for Simon’ s birthday party which was supposed to be on Saturday. I still did not grasp how large this snowstorm really was.
Nathan was lucky enough to be able to work from home so I did not have to worry about him all day. The boys and I had fun doing artwork and playing in the morning. Then, around 11, I took the boys outside to play in the snow. Nathan took his lunch at that time so he could join us in the fun! Nathan promptly started throwing snowballs at Elias, the fence, me…anything he could set his eye on. Once a few years back he hit me right in the face with a snowball and I was very angry…but that is another story. Don’t worry…he didn’t hit Elias in the face!
Simon did not seem to enjoy the snow quite as much the second time around. Elias went around our yard and “cleaned the trees”…relieving them of their snowy burdens. We also had a lot of fun on the sled! Here we are:
We went inside for nap time and rested. Then, after Daddy got off work, we went back outside for another play session before it got dark. Elias really enjoyed the sled again, and the only time Simon didn’t cry was when he was riding on the sled. He was so over this snow thing….
It had been snowing all day so the snow was quite deep. It went up to Elias knees when he walked in the deepest parts.
We snuggled in for the night. All four of us were exhausted!
