Yesterday I took both boys to the grocery store in the late afternoon to pick up some essentials. It was one of those really lucky, harmonious shopping trips where no one complains or has any tantrums or asks you to buy a billion things. Two people stopped me…one to say my boys were awesome…and one to say that moms are awesome. I’m not trying to brag…all shopping trips are not like this…I’m trying to set the scene.
Since everything was going so well, I was in the mood to offer treats, something I don’t do often at the store. I told Elias he could pick a treat for himself and a treat for Daddy. He chose some honey roasted almonds for Daddy, and settled on his fave, a Hershey’s chocolate bar for himself.
He held on to that thing, but gave no fuss when I asked him to give it up at the check out line. As soon as it was back in his hands, he said, “I’d like some in the car.” I told him maybe he could have a bit as soon as he was buckled in.
We got to the car, and I was unloading Simon and the groceries from our cart. Elias climbed into his car seat, and held up the chocolate bar. He pointed to each letter and said aloud:
“H – E – R – S – H – E – Y – S……That spells chocolate!”
My first thought was how cute it was. My second thought was…..if that isn’t the most perfect commercial for Hershey’s, I don’t know what is. Too bad I didn’t get it on video!
I buckled in my boys and let my little man have a taste of his beloved chocolate. The apple does not fall far from the tree there….I may have stolen a square when he wasn’t looking. He shouldn’t have the whole thing anyway…right?
One Response to H E R S H E Y S spells…….
