One of my favorite joys of the past few days has been watching birds come to visit my bird feeder. My mother-in-law gave me a bird feeder and some seed for my birthday, and I anxiously awaited my first birds. At first I did not see many, but knew they must be coming because the seed was scattered on our porch below the feeder. I occasionally saw them, but could not photograph them.
The other evening, a yellow bird came to our feeder and stayed for quite awhile. Long enough for me to
get some pictures. Nathan thinks it is a western meadowlark…the Oregon state bird! But we are not positive….
Anyway, there have been lots of sparrows and some jays who visit every morning, but it was special for me to get an extra long look at this little guy.
