Concert in the Park: Year 2

Our view during the concert. This was when we first got there…before it really got crowded.

Last year a friend told us about the Oregon Symphony’s annual free concert at Waterfront Park. We packed a picnic dinner, went to the concert, and asked ourselves why we had never done that before. It was so much fun. In fact, it sparked a whole bunch of fun activities for our family. Going to that concert made me wonder why we didn’t get out more and enjoy activities of each season…it inspired the seasonal bucket lists.

We were excited to go again this year, but I admit I may have forgotten about it if our good friend (and Elias’ godfather) Andrew hadn’t asked us to meet him there. (We randomly saw him there last year)

A picnic was packed again along with a big blanket, warm clothes, and the camera. The weather could not have been more beautiful. Elias loved the concert. He clapped to the music, and even danced to the music in the beginning.

The finale (1812 overture) came complete with real cannon fire and a concluding fireworks show. We kept Elias out way too late to be considered responsible parents, but I think a little culture and a little fun is worth a late bedtime sometimes.

Fireworks! Elias kept saying “Wow” and “Woah baby!”
