The Holiday Express

I heard about the Holiday Express a few weeks ago from a friend. As soon as I saw it, I thought it would be something that Nathan would like to do, so when he got home from work, I showed him the website. You can see more about the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation here if you are interested.

We found a time we could go, bought tickets, and waited for the day to come! This morning it was snowing on our way over to Oaks Park to board the train. Elias has ridden Amtrak trains, and the small steam engine at the Oregon Zoo, but nothing like these huge steam engines! We got a forty minute ride along the Willamette River. The train cars were decked out in beautiful lights and decorations. There was even a visit from Santa! (I was a very proud mama when Elias saw him and said, “It’s Saint Nicholas!”
