Elias has had a ton of fun with the water table at my parents’ house the last two summers so I always knew it would be something we’d want when we got the space. A month or so ago, Costco had water tables for sale so I asked Nathan if I could get them one. (He said yes).
Today was gorgeous and in the upper 80’s. Driving around to all of our morning events I felt so warm, but when I checked the car thermometer it said 74 degrees. I am such a wimp! It did end up at 88 degrees or so. When Simon went down for his nap, I pulled that water table out of its box, and assembled it. After Simon woke, it was into swimsuits and out onto the deck we went.
The boys had a blast. It was fun to watch them play together part of the time. Of course they also had some disagreements as well…but that’s just being brothers, right?
I love this picture because it shows how much Simon looks up to his brother. I snapped this only a few seconds after they got outside.
In the afternoon, our back deck is in the shade. It was perfect because I didn’t have to worry about hats or sunscreen or getting to hot, but it was still warm enough to be able to play in the hose water!
The boys got into some splashing. They were both giggling a bunch!
Elias decided he wanted to “swim” in the water table, so he wanted to add more water. I didn’t tell him how to work the hose because I wanted to see what he would do. The boys were pretty cute. They used teamwork to turn the nozzle, but not quite enough so most of the water leaked out from the faucet. Elias carried the watering bucket back and forth a few times to fill the table. Simon helped by turning the water on and off.
And here is Simon deciding that the water faucet was more interesting than the water table. Playing with the faucet will probably just be a special treat from now on because it used up quite a bit of water.
Our first water table use was a success! Nana came over in the evening to watch the boys while Nathan and I are at bell choir practice. She took them out to play again after dinner and by their happy sounds when we got home, I’d say they had just as much fun the second time!
